Show Notes

Clara Campoamor (1888 – 1972) was a Spanish lawyer, writer, politician and defender of women’s rights. Campoamor was a pioneer in many things: she attended university when there were practically only men attending, was the second woman lawyer in Madrid, was elected deputy when there was not even female suffrage in Spain and succeeded as a promoter of the women’s right to vote in Spain, which was achieved in 1931 and was exercised for the first time by women in the 1933 elections.
